It will be an early morning event, but it is nice to get outside early once in a while! Meet at PETERSON LOOP, if you can drive, please let Andrew know and drivers will be reimbursed gas.

ROOM VISITS

Saturdays: Jan. 30th, Feb. 6th, Feb 27th, March 6th

Time: 1:30pm-3:30pm

Sit and make a new friend by visiting with an elderly member of the classical residence in La Jolla. This project provides the opportunity to spend time with and brighten the day of one of our city’s very own pearls of wisdom. We will be responsible for providing tea and cookies for the residents as well as taking them for walks in the park. Everyone can make a difference, your day may even be brightened! Rides will be provided or if you would like to drive yourself you will be reimbursed. Meet at Sungod. Email Lindsy if you are interested. This is a great and relaxing event, be sure to check the website for the dates!

BEACH CLEAN UP

Coordinator: Alicia Hitch (ahitch@ucsd.edu) Saturday, Feb. 6th, 10am-12pm

Come out and help PASS keep La Jolla Shores clean and beautiful! Rides leave from the Sun God Statue at 9:50am, gloves and trash bags will be provided. If you have a car and wouldn’t mind driving a few members, please let Ali know, you will be reimbursed for gas! Hope to see you all there!

FEED THE HOMELESS

Coordinator: Lillian Ng (ljng@ucsd.edu) Sunday, Feb 7th, 4pm-7pm

Help feed the homeless and less fortunate people at St. Vincent de Paul Church! This will be a great way to meet and talk to totally different group of people while getting to know other PASS members! Email Lillian at ljng@ucsd.edu if you would like to attend this event. Let her know if you are able to drive as gas will be reimbursed.

TIJUANA TRIP

Coordinator: Lillian Ng (ljng@ucsd.edu) Saturday Feb. 13th 8:30am-4:30pm

We are going to Tijuana to serve food, organize games for kids, and handing out blankets that a church has collected from donations. This is an all day event, and we will be needing drivers. We can take as many people as long as we have enough rides. Also, you will need your passports! Drivers will be reimbursed for gas!

PREUSS SCHOOL TUTORING

The Preuss School, located on the University of California San Diego (UCSD) campus in La Jolla, California, is a charter middle and high school dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for motivated low-income students who will become the first in their families to graduate from college. Preuss has classes from 6th grade to 12th grade and the classes meet from 9am to 4pm M-F and 9-11am on Saturdays. Volunteer tutors usually come in for an hour and a half, twice a week (Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday).
To become a volunteer tutor email Lisa Sugimori at lsugimor@gmail.com for the volunteer application and she will set up your orientation. Volunteers need to provide a proof of TB test result that is no more than 60 days old. If you have it, bring a copy of the results to the orientation. TB tests can be obtained at UCSD student health. Additionally, you will need to provide a copy of a government issued photo identification (driver’s license, passport, military identification, US or other government identification). (Student identification cards do no satisfy this requirement.)

*To join a project, you must email the event’s coordinator with a request to be added to the list of attendees, or sign up with the coordinator at a general body meeting. If you have them, please don’t forget to wear your PASS shirts to projects and socials!

Sincerely,

Jenny Li
