ANNOUNCEMENTS:
2nd General Body Meeting: Wednesday, October 28th,
7:00pm-8:00pm, TBD
"What to know for being a Pre-Med at UCSD" For our second
GBM, We have Jamie Nye from Career Services coming in to talk about the
application process for getting into medical school including how to start
preparing early on.
You can pay dues and Officers will be there to answer any questions. Also, you
will be able to sign up for projects.
Food and Drinks are provided!

Please don’t forget to pay dues, new and old members must pay dues every
year. Starting 6th week, only paid members are allowed to
attend events. The payment link is a ‘pay dues’ button located on the
upper right-hand side of our homepage.

If you used PayPal on our website to pay for dues and had someone other than
yourself pay using a credit card (a parent perhaps?) then please email
Secretary Jenny to check that dues went under your name and not that of the
payee. Email Jenny at mjli@ucsd.edu with
your name and the name of the individual who paid for you.
UPCOMING VOLUNTEERING PROJECTS
2009 MEMORY WALK
Coordinator: Alicia Hitch (ahitch@ucsd.edu)
Saturday, October 24th, 8:00am – 10:30am
Come join PASS in the 2009 Memory Walk. All Memory Walk donations benefit
the Alzheimer’s Association, the leading voluntary health organization in
Alzheimer care, support and research. The mission of the Alzheimer’s
Association is to eliminate Alzheimer’s disease through the advancement of
research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to
reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Walk ends
around 9:30am, awards and costume contest to follow.
FLYERING

5:00pm – 6:00pm
Flyering is a fun and easy way to earn service points! Come help us post
those neon flyers around campus and get to know the officers in an informal
setting! Each flyering event is half a service point.
LA JOLLA SHORES BEACH CLEANUP

Saturday, November 7th, 10:00am-12:00pm
Come out and help PASS keep La Jolla Shores clean and beautiful! Rides leave
from the Sun God Statue at 10 AM, gloves and trash bags will be provided. If
you have a car and wouldn't mind driving a few members, please let Ali know,
you will be reimbursed for gas! Hope to see you all there!
To join a project, you must email the event’s coordinator with a request
to be added to the list of attendees, or sign up with the coordinator at a
general body meeting.
If you have them, please don’t forget to wear your PASS
shirts to projects and socials!

Information about Teach For America: Thursday, Oct. 20th, 7:00pm –
8:00pm Marshall Room at Price Center
Teach For America is the national corps of outstanding recent college
graduates and professionals – of all majors, backgrounds, and career interests –
who commit to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools and become lifelong
leaders in expanding educational opportunity. This year, 7,300 corps members are teaching in 35
regions across the country while 17,000 Teach For America alumni continue
working from inside and outside the field of education for the fundamental
changes necessary to ensure educational excellence and equity. Please join us
for an information session and learn how you can make an immediate difference
