Greetings PASS Members!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
2nd GENERAL BODY MEETING
Wednesday,
April 29th, 8:00 – 9:00 pm PC Theater
At GBM 2 we
will have two guest speakers.
1) Are you unsure about getting into an US medical school? Do you want your
options to remain open? Do you crave adventure and travel? Then perhaps a
foreign medical school is right for you. Bill Wingard from the Career Center
will be coming by to talk to us about medical schools abroad. There are more
doctors working in the US
who studied abroad than you think. Many of these schools provide
the same education as an US
school and you do not need to take any additional exams or classes (and most importantly
they are easier to get accepted to!).
2) Kaplan will be dropping by to share their deals on the MCAT and perhaps
giving away some prizes.
As always you may pick up your shirt and pay your dues. Food and drink will be
provided!
MENTOR-MENTEE INFORMATION NIGHT
Coordinator:
Arvind Ravinutala (aravinut@ucsd.edu)
Thursday,
May 7th, 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Still
wondering what to take next year for fall quarter? Not sure which ochem
professor to take or when to take your bio labs? For any questions you may have
come and talk to experienced UCSD students on what helped them make it through
and ask any other pre-med related questions you may have, be it about the MCAT
or research opportunities. Food and drinks will be provided. Hope to see you
there!

Finals
are coming up and I am giving everyone
the opportunity to earn social points for STUDYING!! That’s right, you read it
correctly, social points for studying! Come on down to UCSD campus and get your
studying on before those darn Finals. Enjoy a great morning of cramming
in those last few hours of reading inside the Biomedical library at
UCSD before the big tests. The great thing about this social is that
there will be other PASS members there that I bet are even in those same
horrible/dreadful classes that you are taking. This means that is not
only a social but a free group study session if needed. Feel free to come
and study for an hour, grab a bite to eat and head on back to some more
terrific studying!

assisted therapy, adult and youth education, emergency animal rescue and more.
PASS members will be in a walking group that will try to raise money for the
cause.

ECO SURF VOLUNTEERS
Eco
Surf Volunteers combines the tropical wonder of South
America's finest untouched beaches and year-round surfing (for any
level) with hands-on humanitarian and environmental volunteer projects.
This summer they will be taking two groups of 20 college-aged volunteers to the
small coastal village of Canoa, Ecuador to build new playground
equipment from recycled materials for the village's elementary school, as well
as implement an English Language Educational Program where volunteers teach
local children to speak English through arts and crafts. All
volunteer-participants enjoy daily surf with a group of Canoan surfers, and
volunteers with little to no surf experience are offered two hour daily surf
instruction. Excursions visiting a local indigenous tribe, rehabilitated
mangrove wildlife sanctuary, Humpback whale-watching, and remote tropical
beaches round out the educational adventure.
Currently Eco Surf Volunteers sponsors include Quiksilver Foundation, Ocean
Minded, Victory Wetsuits, and Soleo Sun Block to name a few.
