ANNOUNCEMENTS
1ST GENERAL BODY MEETING *Updated
Wednesday,
April 15th, 8:00 – 9:00 pm PC Theater
We have
three guest speakers for GBM1:
1) Brian Zeglen, the Director of Admissions at UCSD Medical
School. If there is
anyone who knows what it takes to get into medical school, its this guy. Learn
what medical schools are looking for in applicants and the do's and dont's of
applying.
He will have a short lecture and then be answering all of our questions.
2) Princeton Review will be dropping by to tell us about their deals
on the MCAT and they may have some prizes for us.
3) Carlo Flascha, current UCSD undergraduate student, current AP Stats tutor at
Preuss, current Director of Tutoring Services (DOTS) at the Academic Success
Program (ASP), current PASS member, and teaching aficionado will be chatting
with us about volunteer opportunities with ASP (Academic Success Program). ASP
is committed to providing free retention programs and services that help
undergraduates financially, socially, and academically. As a tutor, you would
help many undergrads stay in college.
As always you may pick up your shirt and pay your dues.
Food and drink will be provided!
OFFICER APPLICATIONS
END DATE:
April 24th
As Officers in PASS, we hope that you have
enjoyed all of our events and activities.
We’re hoping to provide even greater experiences in the future to all
our members! Therefore, for all of you interested, Officer Applications for
2009-2010 are now open! It’s a good way to build leadership skills, qualities
that many med schools look for.
For the files, please feel free to view
them at the PASS Website underneath Member
Center-> Downloads.
You may apply for two positions. Please
note that to apply for President, you must already be a current officer.
YOUR SERVICE/SOCIAL POINTS
Attached to this newsletter is a list of the projects completed thus far this year. Use it to check how many PASS Service Point you have
acquired. To be considered an active member of PASS we ask that you
complete at least six service project points (~12 hours of service), and
attend at least two social events per academic year. If you meet the requirements of official membership by
the end of spring quarter, you will receive a certificate stating how many hours
of service you have completed as proof of your participation
in community service and you will be able to apply for an officer position. The certificates will be given out at the PASS annual banquet.
MEMBERS WHO USED PAYPAL
If you used PayPal on our website to pay for dues and had someone other than
yourself pay using a credit card (a parent perhaps?) then please email pass@ucsd.edu to check that the dues went under your name and not that of
the payee. Please email with your name and the name of the
individual who paid for you.

Hey
there PASS!!!
You do not want to miss this one time only event put on by the Natural History
Museum in Balboa Park.
This event will feature a special presentation on the human life cycle and
ageing. The exhibit shows the complexity, resilience, and vulnerability of the
human body through anatomical studies of the body in distress, disease, and
optimal health. Since all of you happen to be pre-med, it is only wise to
witness the latest advances in neuroscience, cardiology, biology, genetics,
gerontology, psychiatry, and physiology (all that fun stuff). Come see
the newest groundbreaking plastination technique that will be displayed
throughout the exhibit which will open your eyes to a whole new side of
anatomy!!!
STUDY CRAM!!!
Coordinator:
Isadore Tarantino (izzy@ucsdpass.org)
Saturday, June 6th, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Finals
are just a few days from
this date
and I am giving everyone the opportunity to earn social points for STUDYING!!
That’s right, you read it correctly, social points for studying! Come on down
to UCSD campus and get your studying on before those darn Finals. Enjoy a
great morning of cramming in those last few hours of reading inside the
Biomedical library at UCSD before the big tests. The great thing
about this social is that there will be other PASS members there that I bet are
even in those same horrible/dreadful classes that you are taking. This
means that is not only a social but a free group study session if needed.
Feel free to come and study for an hour, grab a bite to eat and head on back to
some more terrific studying!
