is a one-time seminar, given by Dr. Houman Hemmati, entitled "Navigating
your Medical School Application." You will learn everything you need to
know about applying to Medical School, what it takes once you're there,
and how you can optimize your chances of getting accepted. You won't
want to miss this incredibly valuable information!!

Dr. Houman Hemmati (whose impressive bio you will find below), is
flying all the way to San Diego from Johns Hopkins Hospital, in
Baltimore, MD, to talk to you all. He will share his exciting journey of
how he became the Dr. that he is today, and will answer any questions
that you may have about Medical School.
Houman Hemmati, M.D.- Bio
Dr. Houman Hemmati is presently a Resident Physician in
Ophthalmology at the WilmerEye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital, in
Baltimore, Maryland. He previously completed his Internship in Internal
Medicine at Stanford University Hospital. He earned his B.S. Degree in
Biological Sciences in 1996 from Stanford University, where he both
served as a senior aide to then-Provost Dr. Condoleezza Rice, and
co-discovered fetal blood-forming stem cells with Dr. Irving Weissman.
After a year-long cancer research fellowship at the Howard Hughes
Medical Institute, Dr. Hemmatiearned his M.D. degree at UCLA Medical
School (2006 - where he served on the admissions committee for a few
years) and his Ph.D. at the California Institute of Technology (2004).
While at Caltech, Dr. Hemmati was one of the first scientists to
discover the link between stem cells and cancer. For this work, he was
awarded numerous prizes including the Everhart Prize and Top National
Award from the Association for Academic Surgery. Recently, Dr. Hemmati
has been an author and lecturer at Kaplan and a Senior Analyst at
Griffen-Rose, LLC, a Wall Street investment research firm.
