SOCIALS

FUNDRAISER AT BJ’S!

Coordinator: Isadore Tarantino    (izzy@ucsdpass.org)

Tuesday, February 17th, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Hey fellow PASS members!!!
Is anyone up for raising money to help out our up and coming TJ trip which will support the offerings of toys and blankets for our dearest little orphans who have little to nothing.  Moreover, the money that will be raised will also be directed towards our own California's Special Olympics which is held in the heart of downtown each and every year.  The night will consist of trying to bring as many people as we can to the restaurtant BJ's and with every purchase they make, a small portion will be up for donation to our very unfortunate friends.  Oh yah, I almost forgot, the food at BJ's is awesome!! So come on down and help PASS out with this wonderful event and receive a social point as well!!!

STUDY CRAM!!!

Coordinator: Isadore Tarantino    (izzy@ucsdpass.org)

Saturday, March 14th, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Finals are just a few days from this date and I am giving everyone the opportunity to earn social points for STUDYING!! That’s right, you read it correctly, social points for studying! Come on down to UCSD campus and get your studying on before those darn Finals.  Enjoy a great morning of cramming in those last few hours of reading inside the Biomedical library at UCSD before the big tests.  The great thing about this social is that there will be other PASS members there that I bet are even in those same horrible/dreadful classes that you are taking.  This means that is not only a social but a free group study session if needed.  Feel free to come and study for an hour, grab a bite to eat and head on back to some more terrific studying!

The Triton Engineering Student Council will be hosting the 2nd annual outreach event entitled Enspire to take place on Wednesday, February 18th. They will be bringing in around 400 local eighth graders from Pershing Middle School and Gompers Middle School to get them inspired about attending college and possibly consider a career in engineering. Please email Jenny soon if you want to volunteer at this event. mjli@ucsd.edu

The Preuss School, a nationally recognized charter middle and high school located right here at UCSD, is looking for tutors. It's a great and easy way to give back, meet some wonderful and accomplished students and take a break from studying. We have classes
from 6th grade to 12th grade. Preuss is located on the east side of campus, next to Scripps Hospital. You can use the East Parking Shuttle, which will drop you off across the street from Preuss.
Weekday tutoring is possible as well- contact Lisa Sugimori for more information

NOTE: Before any tutoring you MUST go to an orientation with Eva Mejia, the volunteer coordinator at Preuss School. All orientations are at the BEGINNING of each quarter- not in the middle or end of the quarter.  There are NO orientations in the middle of the quarter.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS POLAR PLUNGE

Coordinator: Teresa Bau    (tbau@ucsd.edu)

Saturday, February 28th, 8:00 am – 11:00 am

This is Special Olympic's annual fundraiser event which is soooooo much fun. Held at Oceanside Pier, this event involves plunging into the Pacific Ocean early in the morning and staying in for as long as you can handle the icy deliciousness! PASS got an award for most plungers last year, so let's see if we can have the biggest team again this year! You don't need to know how to swim....just slightly masochistic enough (which pre-meds are anyway) to tolerate the cold! =)

ROOM VISITS

Coordinator: Lindsy Godair    (lgodair@ucsd.edu)

Saturday, February 28th, 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

Sit and make a new friend by visiting with an elderly member of the classical residence in La Jolla. This project provides the opportunity to spend time with and brighten the day of one of our city's very own pearls of wisdom. Your day may even be brightened!

Coordinator: Phildrich Teh    (pteh@ucsd.edu)

Sunday, March 1st, 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm

We will be serving a dinner meal for the homeless and the less fortunate at St Vincent De Paul. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community and help those that are in need. Hope to see you all there!

To join a project you must email the event’s coordinator with a request to be added to list of attendees, or sign up with the coordinator at a general body meeting.

If you have them, please don’t forget to wear your PASS shirt to projects and socials!

All drivers that volunteer to help drive will be reimbursed.

If you have any questions, please send an email to pass@ucsd.edu  Please do not send emails to this address
